Claims Management
We believe that the true test of the value and integrity of the relationship is the provision of fast and efficient claims service and advice.
At the time of a claim we will provide you with a complete claims management service.
Our services will extend to:
- Claim lodgment – In the event of a claim, you can contact us and we will lodge a claim with your insurer on your behalf. We will ensure as much information is provided to the insurer so there is no delay in going back and forth for information. Additionally, if a claim form is required to be completed we can also complete the claim form with you over the phone to save you time.
- Repair – Where your claim involves property damage, we can assist you with finding a repairer to restore the property to its pre-damage state.
- Follow up – If your claim is unnecessarily delayed by your strata insurance company, we will follow up your claim for you and provide you with updates as to the progress of your claim.
- Settlement – At settlement we will verify the payment amount to ensure you are settled the correct amount and we can arrange payment directly to the repairer.
Notification of Claims
All losses or incidents which may result in a claim are to be reported as soon as practicable after the event to Coverite Insurance. The first notification should be by telephone, e-mail or fax, or as circumstances dictate and should include the following information:
- Description of incident
- Date and Time
- Location where circumstances originated
- Estimate of loss
- Action being taken to minimize loss
Emergency Makesafe
During business hours, we recommend contacting us on 1300 554 165 if you have a claim that requires an emergency make safe, so we can advise on the best course of action.
Outside of business hours, please contact our 24/7 emergency make safe contact 1300 831 094.
Following appointment of a make safe, please provide us information in accordance with “Notification of Claims” above.
Loss Minimization
Action should be immediately taken to protect property from further damage but no action should be taken to repair damage until instructed by Coverite Insurance or the Loss Adjusters.
Own Property Damage
All losses should be reported immediately to Coverite Insurance, who will arrange for Loss Adjusters to take whatever action is required.
Liability and Indemnity Claims
In general terms no admission of liability should be made to any party in any form whatsoever. All correspondence, writs, summonses and demands should be sent to Coverite Insurance immediately upon receipt.
Theft and Money
If the loss is due to Theft/Burglary or involves the loss of money, the Police should be contacted immediately and details kept of the officer and station notified. All losses should also be reported to Coverite Insurance as soon as possible.
Motor Vehicle
All accidents involving your motor vehicle/s should be reported immediately to either our office or the nearest office of your Insurer. The vehicle may be towed to the closest repairer capable of rectifying the damage.
The claim processing is expedited if a completed claim form can be left at the repairer’s premises before the visit by the Loss Adjuster.
Your policy excess is normally paid by you to the repairer upon collection of the repaired vehicle. If the damage is due to the negligence of an identifiable Third Party, your Insurer will normally endeavor to recover your excess.
Where a third party is involved, under no circumstances should any admission of liability be made.
